Journalists Killed in the Georgian-South Ossetian Conflict Zone

The Investigation Committee of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office has launched genocide proceedings based on Clause 357 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on actionable information about murders and bodily injuries of Russian citizens of Ossetian ethnicity resident in South Ossetia, committed by the Georgian Armed Forces. Started in August 2008, the proceedings will provide the Investigation Committee with an objective body of evidence for future criminal proceedings against particular persons, and assist international judicial agencies in correct, effective and unbiased evaluation of illegal acts and in determining personal responsibility of suspects, irrespective of the location thereof.
